Like 1 month ago, when my mother was in town, she wanted to see The Crown.
My mother and grandmother were always fans of the british royalty, I don’t know why, maybe because we don’t have monarchy in Argentina, and from down there it looks like a fairytale, with the dresses, the balls and the prince. Picture this, my grandmother, 86 years old, reads Hello! Magazine online, everyday. (Love her!)
Anyway, we start watching the Netflix serie about Queen Elizabeth II, and then even my husband joined!
Reason 1: I have to admit that it is really interesting. It shows the political status and how she has to deal with the fact of being woman and Queen at such a young age (she was 26 when her father, the King, died).
Reason 2: The art direction is amazing, I’ve read the other day that is the most expensive serie made in history, until today it’s been said to cost £130 million.
Reason 3: The cast. All of them, and the beautiful Claire Foy playing Elizabeth so perfectly. She has many nominations this days, for the golden globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Netflix has a 6 years plan, 10 episodes per season, from 1947 to now. First season was up to 1955 and season two will have the same actors, but then they will change.
Reason 4: Each chapter shows how she grows, get stronger and confident, how she has to find allies and figure out his enemies, the relationship with her husband, mother, sister and children and, of course, with Churchill and other countries.
Reason 5: Satisfy your love for history, you will see a lot of UK history as they show how events happened chronologically. And if you don’t love history, it’s a good way to start learning.
Season 2 is being film. Have you seen it? What do you think about it? See it here!
